Job Title: Preschool Teacher | EastLake Children's Center
Level: $20.25 per hour
Hours: up to 39 hours a week

Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and a strong commitment to integrating biblical principles into their teaching. This role involves creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can thrive and develop a lifelong love for learning.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or 12 units in Early Childhood Education.
- Experience: Two years of teaching preschool-aged children.
- Skills: Strong communication abilities, creativity in lesson planning, and genuine passion for early childhood education.
- Faith Commitment: A professing Christian with a deep commitment to living out biblical principles and actively participating in a local Bible-believing church.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, supervise and implement the program for the children that meet the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of both the individual and the group. Such a program is to be in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the center.
- Prepare a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean and appealing, and which permits the child to grow and explore.
- Interact with the children and encourage their involvement in planned or spontaneous activities.
- Maintain and update appropriate records and files and be knowledgeable of the information in each child’s personal file.
- Establish and maintain open communication with parents and/or guardians. Be sensitive to issues of confidentiality.
- Assist children with toileting/diapering needs including changing clothes when necessary.
- Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses and other aspects of professional growth.
- Spend a reasonable amount of time in preparation for meetings, open house, other special events and in emergency situations.
- Prepare and maintain a file for a substitute teacher that includes lesson plans for three days.
- Accept work assigned to cover staffing as needed for center.
Working Conditions
- Physical Demands: Caring for children can be physically demanding. Childcare staff may be lifting and carrying children and equipment and will spend time sitting on the floor or child-sized furniture. Staff will be expected to clean and maintain equipment and facility. Childcare staff may come in contact with children who are ill and/or contagious and must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents, staff, and themselves.
- Physical Requirements:
- Require vision (which may be corrected) to read small print.
- Require mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.
- Perform lifting, pushing, and/or pulling which does not exceed 50 pounds and is an infrequent aspect of the job.
- Is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
- Required to stand for prolonged periods.
- Require mobility for frequent bending, squatting, and twisting.
- Environmental Conditions: Childcare center staff will be working in a busy and occasionally noisy environment. A number of activities and situations will be happening at once and staff will need to supervise all children at all times as well as be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at any time. Staff may also experience sensory demands experiencing smells associated with toileting and children who are ill.
