Community Adversity Support Team (CAST) is a volunteer group in the City of Chula Vista that serves people in crisis on what is often the worst day of their life. CAST team members are dispatched by Chula Vista Police to support those suffering from a variety of traumatic incidents. Some of the scenes CAST responds to are natural deaths in the home, suicides, SIDS, motor vehicle accidents, drowning, fires, etc. CAST members are trained to provide immediate grief support and meets the physical needs of the loved ones on scene and serve through the first few hours of crisis. If you are calm in crisis, empathetic, and have a heart to support others in need, consider joining the team.
Application are received November - December annually. A background check will be required. CAST Academy training is held Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings January - March.
